CHIPROVTSI CARPETS EXHIBITION

Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum at BAS, together with the Historical Museum – Chiprovtsi, State Agency “Archives” and Chiprovtsi Municipality organized the exhibition “Chiprovtsi carpets. Tradition and Modernity“. The opening took place on 26 February 2015 at 17.00 in the Ethnographic Museum, in the former Royal Palace in Sofia, Bulgaria. The exhibition could be seen until October 5th, where about 50 beautiful carpets are in the spotlight.
Since November 26th 2014, at the ninth session of UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, the tradition of carpet-making in Chiprovtsi was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
