The 11th National Fair of Bulgarian folklore in Koprivshtitsa, Bulgaria was officially opened on August 7th 2015 with greetings by the Mayor of Koprivshtitsa – Mr.Gentcho Gerdanov and the Director General of UNESCO – Ms. Irina Bokova towards the guests and the participants in the fair. The official guests were Ms. Nikolina Angelkova, Minister of Tourism, Ms. Katya Todorova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Boil Banov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria,Mr. Eric Falt – Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, diplomats, regional governors, deputy regional governors, members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and others.
The Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO was presented by Mr. Hristo Angelichin, the Executive Director, and the Staff of the Centre as well as the representatives of Member States of the Regional Centre, from Romania and FYR of Macedonia – Acad. Sabina Ispas, Director of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore and Ms Ivona Opetcheska Tatarchevska, Adviser for Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture.
The jubilee edition of the National Fair of Bulgarian folklore in Koprivshtitsa was marked by its 50th anniversary and the 70th anniversary of the founding of UNESCO and was visited by thousands of Bulgarians and Foreigners witnessing their interests and love towards Bulgarian traditional culture, known nowadays as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
