27/07/2016A workshop on “Implementing the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage at the National Level” was held on 13-17 June in Bucharest, Romania
In implementing the work plan for 2016, the Regional Center Sofia along with the Ministry of Culture of Romania, organized a workshop on “Implementation of the UNESCO Convention of 2003 for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage” at a national level.
This training workshop on capacity building, designed specifically for national experts, took place during five days in the conference hall of the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti”. The basic aspects of the implementation of the Convention 2003 at the national level were discussed and other UNESCO Conventions (1972 and 2005) were examined, with particular case studies based on our Romanian colleagues’ experience.
The participants had the opportunity to study in detail the content of the 2003 Convention and its implementation globally, as well as particularly in Romania. The following days were dedicated to lectures on identification and inventorying, with relevant examples. Special attention was paid to the involvement of the communities concerned, the process of safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage and some parallels to the afore-mentioned previous conventions
