Pannel discussion and workshop on “Implementing the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage” was held on 20-24 September in Zagreb, Croatia.
In implementing the work plan for 2016, the Regional Center Sofia along with the Ministry of Culture of Romania, organized a workshop on “Implementation of the UNESCO Convention of 2003 for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
This panel discussion and workshop on the Convention 2003, took place during five days in the conference hall of the National Museum “Mimara Museum” The basic aspects of the implementation of the Convention 2003 were discussed. were examined, with particular case studies based on our Romanian colleagues’ experience.
The participants had the opportunity to study in detail the content of the 2003 Convention and its implementation globally, as well as particularly in Croatia. The following days were dedicated to lectures on identification and inventorying, with relevant examples.
The panel discussion was made with the participation of diversity of experts: ethnologists, representatives of NGO, students. They introduced an interactive presentations and discussed with the facilitator of the UNESCO’s network the private cases of the ICH difficulties in Croatia.
Special attention was paid to the involvement of the communities concerned, the process of safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage and some parallels to the afore-mentioned previous conventions.
