Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in South – Eastern
Europe under the auspices of UNESCO, May 16, 2017.
On May 16-th, 2017 in Sofia was held the annual session of the General
Assembly of the the Regional Center for Safeguarding of the Intangible
Cultural Heritage in Southeast Europe under the auspices of UNESCO.
Representatives of most of the Member States of the Association from
Armenia, Albania, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Moldova,
Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Türkiye, the former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia and a representative of Mrs. Irina Bokova – Director-General
of UNESCO. The attendees tооk part in the adoption of the annual report
for 2016, the approval of the 2017 work plan, and the election of the
Chairman of the General Assembly. During this session it was accepted
another candidate – Ukraine,at this session became a member state of the
Regional
Centre. As a result, the number of countries, part of a large family of
the association, are already sixteen. After the end of the working
session, the
participants had the opportunity to visit the photo exhibition “The
Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Region of Southeastern Europe”,
positioned in the public space of the Sofia Largo Downtown. The
exhibition is realized by the Regional Center for Safeguarding of
Intangible Cultural Heritage in South – Eastern Europe under the
auspices of UNESCO with the support of Sofia History Museum and all
the Member States of the Association – representatives of the Ministries
of Culture and Museum Institutions from the region.
