An Agreement will be signed between the government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to continue the activities of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO, based in Sofia
The Council of Ministers approved the draft Agreement between the
government of the Republic of Bulgaria and the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in relation
to continue the activities of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding
of intangible cultural heritage in South-Eastern Europe based in Sofia
as a Category 2 Centre under the auspices of UNESCO.
The signing of the new agreement is considered as contribution for the
strengthening the position of Republic of Bulgaria as a leading country
in the field of intangible cultural heritage in the region also among
the countries who have signed the UNESCO Convention on the Safeguarding
of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It will help to promote the processes
that have begun on the experts networking as well as the conduction of
various common initiatives in the countries Member States of the Regional Centre from the South-Eastern Europe.
