More than a hundred photographs have documented a variety of elements of the intangible cultural heritage of the region and these visual testimonies make us aware of the rich and varied traditions and customs, oral traditions and expressions, knowledge and skills, objects, artifacts recognized by communities as their cultural heritage.
The purpose of this photo exhibition is to show the Member States profiles in the field of intangible cultural heritage through a journey in their living traditions. Many of them are customs and practices that are the result of meetings of different civilizations in the region during distant historical eras. The communities, groups and individuals that support them today and the state policies that support their preservation, are these bridges to Europe’s modern outlook and its future as a multicultural continent.
