On June 5, 2023 at 17:30h the exhibition A journey through the living heritage, marking the 20th anniversary of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, will be officially inaugurated at the Panorama „Plevenska epopeya 1877“ in the town of Pleven, Bulgaria.
The exposition A journey through the living heritage presents hundreds of photographs that have captured over time the traditions of the 17 Member States of the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO and helps to respect, preserve and value the knowledge, the traditions and the customs.
For 20 years now, the 2003 Convention has been drawing attention to the intangible cultural heritage as a significant part of any nation’s identity, as well as the key in that respect has become the exchange of knowledge and skills between different generations for the safeguarding and preservation of the living traditions. The Regional Centre Sofia – UNESCO has contributed to the promotion of cultural practices, knowledge and customs that have, over time, become of value to us humans.
The event is organized with the support of Pleven Municipality and Foundation „Open hand” and the exhibition could be seen between June 5 – July 5, 2023 at the Panorama „Plevenska epopeya 1877“, part of RVIM – Pleven.
